BayCreek offers a full series of group lessons for kayak touring as well as classes on
river kayaking, navigation and kayak camping. These lessons are held very frequently
throughout the paddling season and taught by ACA trained/certified instructors
BayCreek also offers private lessons for those desiring
personalized instruction or having difficulties with schedules. Private
instruction is $40 per hour.
If you are interested in paddling for fitness or kayak racing, BayCreek would be
pleased to help you get started. We have racers and a trainer on staff. BayCreek
also carries the popular Seda Glider, the Valley Rapier 18 and Rapier 20 and the
Kayak Pro Nemo and Marlin. Also available are olympic boats, the Kayak Pro
Jet, Burn and Sino. Kayaking is popular for adventure racing and general cross training.
All of our classes include kayaks, paddles and personal floatation devices
(lifejackets). We use a variety of current equipment able to accommodate a range of
sizes and paddling interests.

 | Level 1 - Introduction to Kayaking
(2 hours) $40
This class offers on-water training of basic strokes: forward, reverse, sweeps and draws
plus an overview of boats and gear. You'll learn efficient, low stress paddling
techniques that allow you to propel and control your kayak with ease. If you are
thinking about buying a kayak, this class with give you the knowledge and skill to assess
your options. However, we also recommend it for experienced paddlers without formal
training. Previous experienced students have raved about how much they learned.

 | Level 2 -
Intermediate Kayaking (2 hours)
$40
This class takes the paddler beyond the basics and into the realm of performance paddling.
You'll learn how to brace for support and how to execute graceful turns of 90
degrees or more (a great way to impress friends). You'll also learn how to utilize
heeling of your kayak and stern draws to add corrective control to your course.
Finally, you'll practice side slips and precision stops. This class really opens up
the world of paddling to you and is recommended for all Level 1 graduates. Please see the

 | Level 3 -
Kayak Group and Self Rescues
(3 hours) $55
As you become more adverturesome in your paddling, you'll want to paddle farther from
shore. Learn techniques for both group and solo deep water rescues that add safety
and confidence to your paddling. This class begins with wet exit practice then moves
on to assisted reentry, assisted righting (eskimo rescues) and paddle float self rescue.
This class is open to all level 2 graduates.

 | Level 4 -
Eskimo Rolling (1-2 hours) Priced as
private instruction. See Below.
Eskimo rolling offers the ultimate in self rescue. You've probably seen pictures of
whitewater paddlers popping upright after a capsize and then continuing on as if nothing
happened. You, too, can develop this capability and confidence. We teach this
class in a pool with a maximum student / instructor ratio of 2:1. We assemble this
class on demand, so please contact BayCreek to let us know of your interest.

 | Kayak Intensive (full day) $125
This is a one day immersive study that begins with the basics, moves on to
intermediate topics and finishes with practice of rescues. A lot of
information in a short timeframe. Best for those without the schedule
flexibility to take the individual classes.

Kayak Navigation (4 hours)
(call for availability and pricing)
If you are planning to do some tripping in your kayak, this course will teach you the
knowledge and skills you will need to plan, navigate and negotiate a course. We
start with map, chart and compass work, cover currents and tides and then move to the
skills of reckoning and piloting. We finish the class with a practice exercise on
Irondequoit Bay.

 | Fitness Paddling
This is a new series of training classes being developed for fitness paddling.
Topics will include use of the wing paddle, forward stroke mechanics, wake
riding, training methods for optimum development, etc. Call BayCreek for

two hours, per individual.
