Kayaks

Recreational Kayaks

Recreational Kayaks are just that... boats designed to get out and enjoy flat protected bodies of water at a relaxing leisurely pace. These boats generally have an open cockpit, a wider beam and a flat hull to provide comfort and initial stability. Rec. Kayaks are also generally shorter in length (10' - 13'6") which makes them easier to maneuver on small winding creeks. The wider beam and shorter length will however cut down on the boats efficiency over distance.

Day/Weekend Touring Kayaks

Day/Weekend Touring Kayaks have a lot of benefits for the waters of western New York State. These kayaks are a bit longer and narrower than the Rec Kayaks, but are still very manageable for a novice paddler. At 12'6"-15' long these boats are efficient on open water and still quite maneuverable in smaller creeks and rivers. Day/Weekend touring boats can also be easily loaded to accommodate a camping trip. An excellent option for the paddler looking for efficiency over distance with out the length of a full size Sea Kayak that can sometimes be intimidating on smaller bodies of water.

Sea Kayaks

Sea Kayaks, also known as Full size Touring Kayaks, are technical boats designed to be paddled in a variety of different conditions. These kayaks will respond the best if you are looking to expand your paddling skills with a lot of intermediate and advanced instruction. Generally around 16'-18' long these kayaks can also be easily loaded up with gear for extended camping trips. They have earned the name "Sea Kayaks" because these boats are best suited for paddling large open bodies of water like the ocean or Lake Ontario which is a little closer to our home.
