S.K.U.K. Explorer / Explorer HV

Designed for rough water and covering distances, the Explorer is our main expedition kayak. The standard Explorer suits the medium sized paddler, while the Explorer HV is appropriate for the larger paddler. Faster than the Romany family, manoeuvrable and direction stable. It has a large carrying capacity and has been used on a one-month expedition to Antarctica carrying all supplies with no support.

The Explorer is fitted with the High performance glass seat, unless otherwise requested. The kayak has a low rear deck for easy rolling, a keyhole cockpit that gives excellent grip, control and allows quick exit if need be. The sloping bulkhead behind the seat allows the kayak to be emptied by lifting only the bow, no x-rescue is necessary.

Dave Hulburt (Head Kayak Instructor at BayCreek)

The Explorer is the "go to" expedition kayak, it's predictable almost symetric design does exactly what it's told in big water and when loaded this boat is rock solid  The almost hard chines and flat plaining hull give this kayak the perfect amount of initial and secondary stability with no sacrifice when it comes to performance.  There is a reason that this is the most used expedition kayak among paddlesports professionals.
