Intro to SUP Downwinding – 1 hours (20% Discount with Board Buyer's Benefits)

If within you there is a tiny surfer longing to get out, but Hawaii seems too far away, we have the antidote to this dilemma – Downwinding on Lake Ontario.

In this dry-land class, you’ll learn the factors that make for safe and amazingly fun downwind paddles. Along with having strong paddling skills, this class is a prerequisite for joining our “BayCreek Downwinding Series”, a shuttle supported event held weekly from mid-August through September when the wind and waves pick up on Lake Ontario.

The topics we’ll cover include wind speed and direction, wave height and direction, fetch, refraction, group management, proper dress, and emergency planning. We’ll also do a chalkboard talk on typical wave patterns on our Lake Ontario embayment and how to read wave patterns, where to position yourself and when to apply power to catch and ride the waves. All the stuff you need to scratch that surfing itch.
