Touring & Specialty Boards
If you want more speed and perhaps more carrying capacity, then a cruiser could be right for you. The tourer's faster speed appeals to those wanting to cover more distance in an outing, those wanting an aerobic fitness workout and those wanting to trip (point A to point B). Tourer's are great for recreational paddling, touring, sightseeing, exploring, tripping, camping, aerobic workouts, citizen level racing and mild downwinding. Some boards can even surf pretty well. Many are outfitted with gear lash points.
Touring boards
are optimized for glide - to move over the water with less effort and more speed. Buyers choose these to sightsee, explore, trip, camp and exercise aerobically. These are the boards you want for covering distance.
Specialty boards
include boards optimized for racing or downwinding (surfing offshore traveling waves). Since there can be overlap between touring and specialty, we've classed them together. Specialty boards will be marked with the icons below...
