The SKUK standard fiberglass lay-up is expedition ready. The substantial construction has a huge reputation among professional expedition paddlers. The hull is hand laid with special attention to high wear areas being reinforced with extra gel and material. The deck of these boats uses an extra layer of glass mat in front of the cockpit to accommodate for demanding openwater rescues.

This is a compromise offering carbon-kevlar deck over a glass hull. The carbon-kevlar makes the kayak lighter while the glass hull ensures it is as robust as a standard glass kayak. The approximate weight of a carbon-kevlar deck over a standard glass hull is 23 kg including hatches etc.
